Thank you for supporting Idaho teachers and students. How much would you like to donate today? (The amount suggested will fully fund this project)Close
My students are a group of active, inquisitive, cooperative, future workforce in training. They are yearning to work together collaboratively as well as have opportunities to work individually should that be the best choice at the time. The school population is very diverse both culturally and economically. Poverty and privilege abound. The students beg for opportunities to bridge their differences into one amazing community of learners. I want them to have this opportunity. They require the ability to have the best setting for their learning needs.
So many educational and life lessons can be learned using the Iditarod Dog Sled Race as a backdrop. Graphing, math, reading, writing, science, as well as sportsmanship, kindness, priorities, and strategies, are just a few of the skills taught during this unit. My class partners with another to follow the Iditarod, a novel study of "Black Star, Bright Dawn" will enrich that experience. So many students will be touched by this extension of our study. When real-life and fiction overlap, an interesting web of understanding can be created. This project will help create that weave on comprehension. Help the second and fourth grades in my school partner with this project!
