My Students

I work in a district that is 100% Title I, and my school is 100% free lunch. Although my school is considered "high needs" and the students face major life challenges outside of the classroom, they are eager and ready to learn. My students face various struggles outside of school that make it hard to concentrate in the classroom. My goal is to make school a safe, warm, and welcoming environment where students want to be! I believe that all students have the right and capability to see success and enjoyment in their learning. I plan on growing and learning right alongside my students during my first year teaching. I am so excited and eager to use the passion I have for reading, education, and learning to help my own classroom of students!

My Project

My students have grown to love reading and I am so proud of them! We are all constantly on the search for our next favorite book. My students are able to choose to read any book that interests them. Picture books have become very popular in my class, as they often depict real life topics in a very approachable way. Our rack of picture books just completely broke, and all of our picture books are currently on the floor without a home. This project being funded would mean the world to my classroom! Having a bookshelf to display the picture books would help my students be interested and excited to read. I have also included some of my students' favorite picture books that I would love to add to our library. These books include ones that make my entire class laugh out loud and ones that cover social emotional learning topics. My students deal with hard issues at home outside of the classroom, and I know these books on the bookshelf would help them laugh through hard times and be able to learn how to cope. Thank you for considering funding my project!
