My Students

Hello! My name is Miss Gill and I am a Special Education Teacher for the Ridgevue School District. My class is a transition program for 18-21 year old students who have graduated from general education courses but are still eligible to stay in high school; based on their IEP's. Students in my classroom learn life skills and skills to gain optimal independence in life. We have a whole lot of fun and I love helping my students be able to learn the skills that they need to be successful in life.

My Project

Our class has been working with some of their younger peers on building healthy habits and improving skills in various sports. We participate at school as well as with the our Unified Special Olympics team the RC Renegades which includes students from three different high schools. We often invite younger students for peer support activities and teach them to play many of the sports we participate in with the Special Olympics. Not only do we play a variety of sports at the school; we also travel to other areas with our team to help us stay active and social. We also will use this equipment to help keep the team hydrated as well as pack our sports equipment to and from Special Olympics games.
